There Is Nothing More Important To Us Than You Getting The Help You Need.

If you're going through something serious right now, please reach out to one of the services below. They are free, confidential, and available right now.

We built Mate Talk because we believe every Australian man deserves someone genuinely in his corner.

But we also know that sometimes what someone needs goes beyond a conversation with a Mate. Sometimes what's needed is immediate professional support, and there is absolutely no shame in that. In fact reaching out when things get serious is one of the bravest things a man can do.

If you are in crisis, struggling with thoughts of suicide or self harm, or just feel like you can't go on right now, please don't close this page. Reach out to one of the services below. They are real people, they are free, they are confidential, and they are there specifically for this moment.

You don't have to have it all figured out before you call. You just have to pick up the phone.

Ready to take the next step toward professional support?

If you feel like you need ongoing professional help here are the best ways to access it in Australia:

See your GP first. Your GP can refer you to a psychologist under a Mental Health Care Plan which gives you up to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per year. This significantly reduces the cost of seeing a psychologist. It's one of the most underused and most valuable mental health resources available to Australians.

Our Preferred Psychology Partners Mate Talk works with a network of trusted psychologists and mental health professionals across Australia. If you'd like a warm referral to someone we trust please reach out to us at [email protected] and we'll connect you with the right person.

A note from us

We started Mate Talk because we believe Australian men deserve better support than they currently have access to. But we also know our limits. We are a conversation service, not a crisis service, not a clinical service, and not a replacement for professional mental health care.

If you are going through something serious please use the resources on this page. That is not a failure. That is exactly what these services exist for.

And when you're ready, whenever that is, we'll be here.

Someone in your corner. Always.

Mate Talk is a social support and conversation service. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment, psychology, or counselling. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis please contact:
