Most guys are carrying more than they let on.
Work stress. Financial pressure. Relationship strain. The weight of providing for a family. Feeling lost without knowing why.
And when it gets heavy, most of us do the same thing — we say we're fine and push through alone.
Not because we're weak. Because there's nowhere that feels right to turn.
Your mates are dealing with their own stuff. Your family worries. A psychologist feels like a big step.
So you carry it. And it gets heavier.
Mate Talk exists because that's not good enough.
Mate Talk is a judgment-free conversation service for Australian men who need someone to talk to, without the wait times, the cost, or the clinical formality of seeing a psychologist.

Mate Talk connects you with a real mate for a genuine, judgment-free conversation.
No diagnoses. No clinical frameworks. No pressure.
Just someone who gets it, who listens properly, and who's genuinely in your corner.
Think of it as the conversation you'd have with your best mate, if your best mate had all the time in the world and zero judgment

Mate Talk is for any man who:
• Is going through a rough patch and needs to talk it through
• Feels stressed, lost, or overwhelmed but doesn't know why
• Wants to talk to someone outside their immediate circle
• Isn't ready for therapy but knows they need something
• Just needs to be heard by someone who genuinely listens

1. Book a session - Choose a time that works for you. Sessions are 30 minutes - 1 hour and available mornings, evenings, and occasionally weekends.
2. Show up as you are - No preparation needed. No forms to fill in. Just turn up and talk about whatever is on your mind.
3. Leave feeling lighter - Most men finish their first session saying the same thing, "I didn't realise how much I needed that."

The reality of men's mental health in Australia:
• 1 in 8 Australian men currently experience depression
• Only 30% ever seek professional support
• Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian men aged 18–44
• Over 75% of all Australian suicides are male
• Average wait time for a psychologist: 8–12 weeks
You are not alone. And you don't have to wait 8 weeks to talk to someone.

Mate Talk is a paid conversation and human connection service. It's not therapy, counselling, or any form of clinical mental health treatment. Just someone genuinely in your corner.
No. Mate Talk is a social support and companionship service. We are not psychologists, counsellors, or mental health professionals. If you need clinical mental health support, we can refer you to one of our Preferred Psychology Partners.
Not at all. Most of our clients aren't in crisis, they're just carrying a lot and need somewhere to put it. Work stress, relationship pressure, feeling lost, navigating big life changes, or just needing to talk something through. You don't need a reason beyond wanting to be heard or simply just wanting to have a chat.
Anything that's on your mind. Work, relationships, family, finances, stress, identity, goals, fears, or nothing specific at all. There's no agenda and no right or wrong thing to bring to a session.
We are not trained crisis counsellors or mental health clinicians. If a conversation moves into territory that requires professional clinical support, we will refer you to the right people. We also ask that all conversations remain respectful.
Yes. Everything discussed in a Mate Talk session is kept strictly confidential. We will never share your information with third parties without your consent, except in rare circumstances where there is a serious risk to your safety or the safety of others.
